Only Usable Outdoors

I like the title so much, It's becoming the name of the blog. Druids are undisputed kings of HoT's so that part made sense, but they have only a handful of DoT's spread across feral and balance. It wasn't truly fitting like "Only Usable Outdoors".

The title refers to one big problem I may have with balance druid: I can't root indoors. This poses little problem at my current level, 12, but could prove more annoying in later levels when I'd rather not have mobs beating on my while I try to cast them to oblivion. I now have a little better opinion of Nature's Grasp. For one thing it's not low cost, it's free. The downside is the one minute cooldown, so this could be used on every other mob more or less. It's still nice to root normally for now, but I may experiment with switching off between Entangling Roots and Nature's Grasp.

At this point, I'm looking forward to a few things about balance druid. At the forefront is Moonkin Form. The idea of being a heavily armored nuker is pretty cool. I believe Moonkin Form gets 400% armor, the same as Dire Bear. Moonkin Aura(?) also provides a crit increase of 5% for all party members. This being the caster equivalent of Leader of the Pack. Sadly there is no 4% of total HP heal with each crit (no more than once every six seconds, of course). Next on the list is the trio of treants. I think this is the level 50 (after 40 points in Balance tree) abil and should be pretty neat. They last a short 30 seconds and I imagine they have a 5 min cooldown. The only other thing specific to Balance is the insect swarm. I will then have Entangling Roots, Moonfire and Insect Swarm, three DoT's... yay! Lock, Jr. I am not :'(

I am a little undecided if I would remain Balance ultimately or switch to Resto which was my initial plan. A switch would have to come late since Resto does not lend itself well to solo'ing.
It's a long way off and of course I'm not even sure if the day will come.
